TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm has acquired veteran defensive linemen Dominie Pittman and James McClinton, announced Storm Vice President of Football Operations Jeff Gooch.
"The defensive line needed veteran leadership and that is what Dominie and James bring to the team," said Gooch. "They are veterans of the Arena Football League and have been productive defensively. We believe these attributes will fit well within our defensive system."
Pittman (6-foot-3, 250 lbs., North Alabama) enters his fifth season in the Arena Football League and first in a Storm uniform. The Pensacola, FL native split the 2015 season between the Los Angeles KISS and the New Orleans VooDoo. Pittman began his AFL career with the Pittsburgh Power in 2012. He would spend two seasons in Pittsburgh before moving on to the KISS in 2014.
Over the course of his four-year career, Pittman has started in 41-of-49 games. He's recorded 88.5 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 17.5 sacks, four pass breakups, three fumble recoveries, a forced fumble and four blocked kicks.
Pittman began his professional career in 2010 when he signed with the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League. He played in eight games for the Lions and tallied 14.0 tackles, two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
McClinton (6-foot-1, 285 lbs., Kansas) joins the Storm for his fourth season in the Arena Football League. The former Jayhawk began his AFL career in 2011 with the Spokane Shock. He would go on to play for the Iowa Barnstormers, Jacksonville Sharks, Los Angeles KISS and the New Orleans VooDoo. For his career, the Garland, TX native has started in 21-of-28 games and recorded 35.5 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks and a blocked kick.
McClinton began his professional career in 2008, spending time with the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League as an undrafted rookie free agent. He also has several years of indoor football experience, playing for the Green Bay Blizzard of the Indoor Football League. In four seasons, McClinton tallied 92.0 tackles, 23.0 sacks and two forced fumbles.
Prior to turning pro, McClinton started in 36-of-43 games for the Jayhawks, earning All-Big 12 honors for his performance during his junior and senior seasons. In four years, he recorded 118.0 tackles and 9.5 sacks, helping lead the team to a 2008 Orange Bowl victory.
