Storm Add Pair of Defensive Backs

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Storm acquired defensive backs Terrence Mitchell and James Harrell, announced vice president of football operations Jeff Gooch.

"Both Terrence and James are local Tampa products that bring added depth to our backfield," said Gooch. "They are competitors and will help elevate the play on the field."

Mitchell (5-foot-9, 165 lbs., South Florida) enters his rookie season in the Arena Football League. The Tampa native played three seasons with the Bulls on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Mitchell started in 11-of-28 games for South Florida and reeled in 38 passes for 474 yards and a touchdown, and rushed four times for 43 yards and a touchdown. On special teams, Mitchell had 42 punt returns for 379 yards. Defensively he recorded 10 tackles.

Harrell (5-foot-10, 195 lbs., Arkansas-Pine Bluff) played in two games this season for the Storm and has recorded 11 tackles. For his career, the Tampa native has tallied 39.5 tackles, two pass breakups and an interception return for a touchdown. Harrell played collegiately for Arkansas - Pine Bluff and was a first team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference selection in 2011.

The team placed defensive back Donald Smith on inactive reserve.

The team placed wide receiver Samuel Tranks on injured reserve.

The Five-Time World Champion Tampa Bay Storm enters its 27th season in the Arena Football League. The Storm will host "Fiesta Night," Saturday, May 3 when it takes on the Portland Thunder on AMALIE Motor Oil Field at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
