Tampa Bay Storm News Release
Tampa, FL - Hobbled by a leg injury at the end of the third period, quarterback Randy Hippeard stepped up to connect with three fourth-quarter touchdowns, the last a 28-yard toss to T.T. Toliver with 56 seconds remaining as Tampa Bay pulled off a stunning, 56-49, win over the Philadelphia Soul Saturday on the Amalie Motor Oil Field in the Tampa Bay Times forum.
The Storm (6-6) defense was the difference as it stopped the Soul (6-6) on four 4th-down possessions.
Dexter Jackson's hurry on Soul quarterback Dan Radabaugh, a missed field goal by Philadelphia's Carlos Martinez, a sack for 10 yards on Radabaugh by Uriah Grant and Jammie Kirlew and Radabaugh's incomplete pass to Ryan McDaniel with coverage by Storm defensive back Rod Isaac closed the door as he last two seconds went off the clock.
Trailing 49-34, Hippeard was 4-for-5 passing in the fourth, finishing with 14 of 26, for 217 yards and seven touchdowns. Wide receiver Joe Hills had six catches for 67 yards and four touchdowns.
Defensive back James Harrell had another outstanding game and for 6-yard pass interception return for a touchdown, a 27-yard missed field goal return and seven tackles he collected the game's Riddell Defensive Player of the Game award.
