June 1, 2005 - American Indoor Football Association (AIFA)
Steubenville Stampede News Release

On Tuesday the Atlantic Indoor Football League took the first steps in their expansion process by announcing that Steubenville, OH as the first team that will be joining the league for the 2006 season.

Steubenville was chosen for many reasons based on demographic studies done by an independent agency for the league. The area was also chosen based on the passion the citizens of Steubenville and Jefferson County have for football.

Mayor Dominic Mucci stated, "this is a great thing for Steubenville, to bring a team to this area will do nothing but increase exposure to our great city."

The team has not been named as of yet and fans can log onto www.aiflsteubenville.com to join in the naming contest. The winner of that contest will receive season tickets for life to all games played in Steubenville.

The AIFL also made the announcement that Raymond Saccoccia of Steubenville will be the General Manager for the team, which has already begun business operations and will be playing games in March of 2006.
