May 13, 2007 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
San Antonio Steers News Release
The San Antonio Steers kicked off their first ever National Indoor Football League game with a loss to the Beaumont Drillers. The Steers offense moved the ball up and down the field, but failed several times in the red zone. The Steers offense matched up well with the Drillers by gaining 11 first downs, to the Drillers 15. "Our lack of experience really hurt us in the red zone. You can't substitute for that" said Steers Head Coach Mark Ricker
Despite several obstacles, the Steers were able to put together a team quickly to compete against the Drillers "We are pleased with the effort of our players. The experience we gained will help us down the road" added Ricker.
