Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Youngstown SteelHounds and Head Coach Jean Laforest have announced that defenseman Jeff Alcombrack and forward Dan Buccella will return to the Hounds for the 2006-07 season. In limited action, both men made solid contributions last year, but had their seasons cut short due to injuries.

Alcombrack, 26, is set to begin his fifth season in the CHL and his second with the SteelHounds. In just 28 games with the Hounds in 2005-06, the Kincardine, Ont., native registered 3 goals and 19 assists along with 22 penalty minutes. Despite missing 38 games with injury, the 6-0, 200-pound blueliner led all Hound's defenseman in scoring. Alcombrack was injured on January 3rd in Bossier-Shreveport when an awkward hit in the corner led to a broken ankle. The defenseman set career highs in goals (11), assists (24) and penalty minutes (30) in 2004-05 as he split time between the Odessa Jackalopes and the Austin Ice Bats.

Buccella, 23, had two separate injuries last season missing 19 games with a shoulder injury and the last 34 games with a knee injury. The Woodbridge, Ont., native appeared in a total of just 9 games for the Hounds, registering three assists and 23 penalty minutes. Buccella's most productive professional season came in 2004-05 when he appeared in 56 games with the Huntsville Channel Cats of the South Eastern Hockey League. He finished the season with 49 points (25 goals, 24 assists) and 87 penalty minutes. Buccella played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League including a two-year stint with the Peterborough Petes.

Buccella and Alcombrack are the sixth and seventh players to be added to the 2006-07 roster. The Hounds are set to open the season on October 27th at the Chevrolet Centre. For more information please call 330-747-7825 or visit www.steelhounds.com.
