Youngstown, Ohio - The Youngstown SteelHounds and Head Coach Jean Laforest announced today the re-signing of Joey Sewell to a one-year contract for the 2006-07 Central Hockey League (CHL) season.
"We are very pleased to have Joey back with the SteelHounds," said Laforest. "Last year we got a taste of his skills on the ice and what potential he has to be a top star in this league and I know a full season will be advantageous to what we are trying to accomplish."
Sewell, who was acquired by Youngstown in January 2006 from the Tulsa Oilers (CHL), appeared in 23 games for the Hounds last season. The 6-0, 190-pound forward made an immediate impact in Youngstown notching points in 19 of the 23 games. He finished fifth on the team in points, registering 21 goals and 18 assists. Of his 21 goals, 10 were on the power play. He finished the season tied with Tulsa's Jim Dahl for the longest goal scoring streak of the season finding the back of the net in seven straight contests (2/4-3/10).
