Youngstown SteelHounds News Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown SteelHounds Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kaminski announced today that the team has re-signed forward Mark Johnson for the 2007-08 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Johnson, 21, was the second youngest member of the 2006-2007 squad that qualified for the Central Hockey League Playoffs for the first time in franchise history. The native of Glencoe, Ontario had a strong rookie campaign in the Mahoning Valley notching seven goals and nine assists for 16 points to go with 112 penalty minutes in 57 games.

Head Coach Kevin Kaminski is expecting big things from the 6-1, 190-pound forward saying, "Here is a great, young kid with a great attitude. He has the speed, the skill and can play the physical part of the game." Kaminski went on to say, "He needs to return to camp as the best conditioned player on the team as he did last season. If he has the confidence that he had at some points then I think he can have a very productive year for us. He needs to come in confident and play to the potential that he has."

Johnson will have the chance to improve on last year's results when the Hounds lace up the skates this October. Mark Johnson joins forward Chris Shaffer and defensemen Jeff Alcombrack and Stephen Margeson as players returning to Youngstown this season.

Youngstown SteelHounds 2007-2008 season tickets are on sale now and start as low as $42 a month. Call the Hounds ticket department at (330) 747-PUCK and do not forget to ask about how you can bring your group to a SteelHounds hockey game at the Chevrolet Centre.
