YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - Youngstown SteelHounds Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kaminski announced today that the team has re-signed defenseman Jeff Alcombrack for the 2007-08 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Alcombrack, 27, has been with the Hounds since their first season joining the club via trade on October 28th, 2005 from Austin. In 92 career games with the SteelHounds, the Kincardine, Ontario native ranks third in franchise history with 74 points including 12 goals and 62 assists. He is the franchise's top scoring defenseman.

"We are extremely happy to have Jeff (Alcombrack) back with us this season," said Kaminski. "In watching him play last season, I saw him grow into not only an all-star caliber hockey player but a tremendous leader on and off the ice. He will lead the charge of the defensive unit this season and be a key component to our success. His ability to see the ice and create scoring chances is on level with the best in the CHL and I know he will build off last year."

Last season saw the 6-0, 200-pound defenseman post career highs with 52 points (8th among all CHL defensemen), 43 assists (6th among all CHL defensemen) and 60 penalty minutes, while adding nine goals. He finished third on the team in points and assists and was tops among all Hounds defensemen in points. Additionally he finished fifth on the SteelHounds with a +17 plus/minus rating and second with 25 power play assists. In six playoff games, Alcombrack scored two goals with four assists.

During the 2005-06 season with Youngstown, Alcombrack got off to a great start with 22 points (3-19=22) in 28 games but suffered a season ending leg injury on January 3rd, 2006 versus Bossier-Shreveport.

Alcombrack is just short of veteran status playing 262 career CHL games seeing action with Memphis, New Mexico, Odessa, Austin and Youngstown. He has scored 27 goals with 101 assists in his five CHL seasons.

Season tickets for the SteelHounds 2007-08 season are currently available and your seats can be reserved with a $100 deposit. The Hounds begin their third season in the Central Hockey League in October.
