Chippewa Steel News Release

CHIPPEWA FALLS, WI- The Chippewa Steel finished up their weekend on Sunday afternoon facing the Minnesota Magicians at home. The Steel were coming off two tough overtime losses on Friday and Saturday against the Minnesota Wilderness. Despite two losses the Steel were able to earn two points on the weekend to hold their second-place spot in the divisional standings.

The Steel started the Gotovets-Moberg-McGrath line which has been one of the most productive lines for the Steel. Jackson Decker and Spencer Oyler got the start on defense for the Steel along with Trent Burnham in goal. It was Spencer Oyler scoring the game's first goal going coast to coast on the power play. The Magicians were quick to answer however and tied things up 1-1 to finish out the period.

The Magicians began to take control in the second period scoring the only period goal at 12:24. The Steel continued to outshoot the Magicians during the course of the period and were given several power play chances during the period but couldn't connect.

Chippewa came out with a burst of energy to start the third period. Steel captain Isaac Moberg tied things up with an early third period goal just as the net came off it's foundation. The tie didn't last long however as the Magicians responded with a breakaway goal to regain their lead. The Steel continued to fight through the final seconds of the period but were unable to make the comeback as they fall to the Magicians with a score of 3-2.

The Steel will be back in action on Thursday night at home as they take on the Janesville Jets. Thursday night's game promotion is BOGO Adult Game tickets along with a food can donation presented by Midwest Family Broadcasting.
