Chicago Steel News Release

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The 2021 Clark Cup Champion Chicago Steel announced today the club's exhibition schedule with four games to be played in September.

The Steel take to the road for two games against the Des Moines Buccaneers at Buccaneer Arena in Urbandale, Iowa on Sept. 11 & 12 before finishing the preseason slate with a pair of matchups against the Muskegon Lumberjacks at Mercy Health Arena in Michigan on Sept. 15 & 19.

Game action will be available to stream on HockeyTV (Subscription required) and Mixlr (Free radio app) for only the Sept. 15 & 19 games against the Lumberjacks.

The Steel elected not to host any home games during the preseason as Fox Valley Ice Arena undergoes upgrades to the NHL Rink ice surface that are expected to conclude in mid-September.

The back-to-back set versus the Buccaneers starts with a Saturday night showdown on Sept. 11 at 7:00 pm CT and concludes with a Sunday afternoon matchup on Sept. 12 at 4:00 pm CT.

The Steel posted a 2-0-0-0 record against the Buccaneers during the 2020-2021 regular season.

Chicago bested Des Moines 5-1 on Feb. 11 at Fox Valley Ice Arena as Steel defenseman Jake Livanavage netted his first career USHL marker.

On Feb. 26, both clubs put on an offensive display when the Steel registered an 8-7 overtime victory at Buccaneer Arena. The Steel led 5-2 early in the middle frame before Des Moines rattled off three consecutive markers to even the score. Steel forward Sam Lipkin netted his first tally in the USHL to send the game to overtime where former Chicago forward Josh Doan scored the game-winning goal.

The final games of the 2021 preseason schedule pit Chicago against the Muskegon Lumberjacks in a re-match of the 2021 Eastern Conference Final.

The Steel square off against the Lumberjacks on Wednesday, Sept. 15 at 4:00 pm CT and conclude the exhibition slate on Sunday, Sept. 19 with a 3:00 pm CT puck drop, both games at Mercy Health Arena in Muskegon, Mich.

Steel rookie forward Adam Fantilli shared the team lead with three goals over two Eastern Conference Final matchups against the Lumberjacks on his way to the 2021 Clark Cup Playoffs MVP award. Chicago eliminated Muskegon from the 2021 postseason with a 2-0 series sweep, posting a 3-2 overtime win in Game 1 on May 7 and a 5-4 victory in Game 2 the following night at Mercy Health Arena.

After the Steel wrap up four exhibition games, the club will travel to Cranberry Township, Penn., for the 2021 DICK'S Sporting Goods USHL Fall Classic at UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex.

Chicago opens the regular season with rematches of the past two Clark Cup Finals, facing off against the Fargo Force on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 4:30 pm CT and finishing the weekend with a 4:00 pm CT puck drop against the Sioux Falls Stampede on Sunday, Sept. 26.

Both Fall Classic contests will be available on HockeyTV and Mixlr.

The defending Clark Cup Champion Steel are set to open the 2021-2022 home slate on Saturday, October 2 at 7:05 pm CT in a rematch of the 2021 Eastern Conference Final against the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
