Stealth Sign Forward Mike Regan

March 10, 2005 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
San Jose Stealth News Release

SAN JOSE - San Jose Stealth General Manager and Head Coach Johnny Mouradian has announced today that the team has signed last year's leading goal scorer, forward Mike Regan. The signing is still pending National Lacrosse League approval.

In a move that should improve the Stealth's offense, Regan comes to the team for the second half of the season. Regan's responsibilities as a bond broker in New York hasn't allowed him to play until now, but he's ready to resume his NLL career with the Stealth.

"I'm really excited about returning," Regan said. "I'm coming to a team that has huge potential and hopefully with myself and Teddy (Dowling, who recently came out of retirement), we can make a run at the championship."

Last season, Regan was second on the Stealth with 73 points (44 goals, 29 assists) in 16 games. He led the Stealth and was forth in the NLL in goals. The veteran forward provided many late game heroics, posting four game-winning goals, including a goal with less than a second on the clock to beat the Colorado Mammoth, 13-12, in the Stealth's inaugural home game on Jan. 10, 2004. Regan was recognized by Inside Lacrosse Magazine as the Best American Player after his stellar 2003-04 season.

In 61 career games, the 5-foot-10, 190-pound Albany, New York native has notched 199 points (127 goals, 72 assists). Regan holds records with most shots on goal in a game (16), most power play goals in a game (two) and most game-winning goals (four).

"The whole organization is pumped to have Mike back on our squad," Mouradian said. "He will add extra looks on our offense and improve our power-play, which is what we really need."

Regan and Dowling will be this Saturday as the Stealth play host to the Arizona Sting at 7:30 p.m at HP Pavilion. Tickets are on sale at all Ticketmaster locations, Ticketmaster.com, by calling 408-999-5700 or at the HP Pavilion ticket office.
