Stealth Designate Franchise Players for 2004-05 Season

San Jose, CA- The San Jose Stealth has announced that Goaltender Rob Blasdell and Forward Dan Teat have been named as the team's franchise players for the 2004-05 season. The franchise designation is made by clubs who wish to guarantee the retention of key veteran players who would have otherwise become Unrestricted Free Agents for the upcoming season.

Blasdell finished last season with an impressive 7-2 win/loss record as the Stealth's leading net minder. The six-foot-one, 205-pound native of Orillia, Ontario will be entering his sixth National Lacrosse League season, compiling a 40-23 record in 83 games over his career with a 12.37 GAA.

Teat notched 52 points (34 goals, 18 assists) in 16 games last season for the Stealth and was named gamed MVP four times. An eight-year NLL veteran, the Brampton, Ontario native has posted 303 points (166 goals, 137 assists) in 103 career games.

Teams can declare a maximum of two Franchise Players each season. In return for being named the Franchise Player, the player receives the maximum veteran salary plus an additional ten percent for the upcoming season.

Franchise Players declared for the 2004-05 Season: John Tavares, Steve Dietrich (Buffalo), Ted Dowling (Calgary), Gary Gait (Colorado), Dallas Eliuk, Tom Marechek (Philadelphia), Mike Hasen, Pat O'Toole (Rochester), Dan Teat, Rob Blasdell (San Jose), Jim Veltman, Bob Watson (Toronto), Andy Ogilvie, Curt Malawsky (Vancouver).
