Traverse City North Stars News Release
The TC North Stars scored a 3-0 win at Marquette on Saturday. A full story will follow later this evening.
The Traverse City North Stars put a serious dent in the playoff hopes of the Marquette Rangers on Saturday at Lakeview Arena, scoring a 3-0 win in a must-win game for the hosts. Goalie C.J. Motte made 19 saves for his third shutout of the year.
After Nate Urbaniak's wrister from the high slot found twine nine minutes into the contest, Kyle Jean provided his customary jaw- dropping tally with 1:31 to play in the second. Kyle Bonis and Jarrod LaBelle assisted on Urbaniak's marker, while Dan Radke and Eric McLintock set up Jean's backhanded beauty. Radke made it 3-0 at 10:54 of the third from Phil Wendecker and Cody Walsh.
The Stars also clinched the SmithBarney Challenge Cup. Traverse City and Marquette will close out the regular season on Saturday at Lakeview Arena. Face-off is slated for 7:30.
