- - - - - Stars Kick Off Season Saturday
The NSC Minnesota Stars begin their 2011 North American Soccer League season on Saturday night with a showdown against the Atlanta Silverbacks. The Silverbacks are back in action after a two-year hiatus and will welcome the Stars to Silverback Park for a 6:30 p.m. match. The game is the first of the year for both clubs.
The Stars finished their preseason last Saturday with a 0-0 tie against Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire. The game, played at the practice fields right outside Toyota Park, gave the Stars a chance to play outdoors prior to their trip to Atlanta.
The Stars independent supporters' group, the Dark Clouds, will host a watch party for the game at the Sweetwater Bar and Grill near downtown Saint Paul (click for map). The event is open to all soccer fans and is free. For more information, visit the Dark Clouds' website, or follow them on Twitter or Facebook.
