January 22, 2008 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Traverse City North Stars News Release
BOARDMAN, Oh. -Kyle Bailey had a goal and two assists, while Brent Dexter and Kyle Verbeek added a goal and assist each to lead Mahoning Valley to a 4-0 win over Traverse City on Monday in the finale of the four-day Phantoms Hockey Showcase at the IceZone in suburban Youngstown.
The North Stars are in the middle of a stretch of seven games in nine days, following the four-game extended weekend. The Stars (11-18-8) travel to Marquette on Thursday before welcoming the U.S. National Team Development Program's Under-17 squad to Centre ICE arena on Friday and Saturday.
While TC came away from the Showcase a little heavier in the loss column, the team lost no ground in its playoff pursuit of fourth- place Marquette, as the Rangers dropped all four outings in Youngstown and are 12 points ahead of the Stars, with the USNTDP wedged between. Traverse City has a pair of games in hand against the Rangers and one versus Team USA.
Thursday's game - available for viewing via the b2 Network through a link at traversecitynorthstars.com - is set for a 7:30 p.m. face- off. The weekend series with the USA-17s gets underway at 7 p.m. both nights.
