Stars Announce 2009 Field Staff

Wednesday, the Milwaukee Brewers announced their Minor League coaching staffs for the 2009 season, and for the first time since 2005 the Huntsville Stars will be guided by someone other than Don Money.

Money, the winningest manager in Stars' history, has been promoted to Triple-A Nashville. Replacing Money in Huntsville will be Bob Miscik, who brings 26 years of baseball experience with him to the Rocket City. Miscik played nine seasons in the minors in the Pittsburgh Pirates (1980-1986) and the California Angels (1987-1988) organizations. After his playing career, Miscik became a coach in the Baltimore Orioles organization where he served as a minor league coach 1990. He spent 1991-1996 managing the Orioles' farm teams at every level.

In 1997, Miscik became the Minor League Field Coordinator for the Texas Rangers, a position which he held until 2004. He also managed the Rangers' Single-A Charlotte club in 2000. In 2004 he became the Rangers' Player Development Coordinator. He spent the 2005 and 2006 seasons as the Cincinnati Reds' Minor League Field Coordinator.

Joining Miscik on Huntsville revamped Field Staff will be John Curtis and Jim Lett. Replacing Chris Hook as the Stars' Pitching Coach will be John Curtis, who has spent the last four years as the Pitching Coach for the Brewers' Single-A affiliate West Virginia Power. Curtis spent 15 years in the Major Leagues with the Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres, and California Angels. The 2009 season will be Curtis' ninth in the Brewers' organization.

Replacing Sandy Guerrero will be Jim Lett, who has coached at every level in professional baseball. He has coached and managed at the Minor League level in the Cincinnati Reds (1977-1985, 1991-1992), Kansas City Royals (1990), and Milwaukee Brewers (2008) organizations. He served as the Reds' Minor League Field Coordinator (1993-1995). Lett has also coached in the Majors as the Bench Coach for the Reds (1986-1989, 1996), the Los Angeles Dodgers (2005), and the Pittsburgh Pirates (2005-2007) and the Bullpen Coach for the Dodgers (2001-2005). He spent the 2008 season as the Hitting Coach for the West Virginia Power.

Dave Yeager will return as the teams Athletic Trainer for his fifth season in Huntsville. Guerrero will join Money in Nashville after spending six seasons in Huntsville, and Hook will serve as the Pitching Coach for the Brewers' new Single-A affiliate Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
