
Sports tune up for playoffs with rain-shortened 3-1 victory

Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
In the season finale, the Shreveport Sports defeated Pensacola 3-1 in a game called after five innings because of rain at Fair Grounds Field.
Shreveport scored two runs in the first inning as Derek Patterson doubled and scored on a double by Jorge Alvarez. Alvarez later scored in the inning on a wild pitch by losing pitcher Trey Stephens.
The Sports increased their lead to 3-0 in the fourth on a two-out triple by Chris Hall and a double by Bryan Loeb.
Pensacola's only run came in the fifth inning on a lead off home run by Heath Kelly.
Shreveport finished the regular season at 50-45 and will begin the Central League Eastern Division playoffs Monday at Fair Grounds Field against Pensacola. The first two games of the playoffs, Monday and Tuesday will be at Fair Grounds Field. The best three of five series will then continue at Pensacola on Thursday. Game time Monday will be 7:05 pm.
