Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release
The Shreveport Sports closed out the 2005 season with an impressive 9-1 win over El Paso Saturday at Fair Grounds Field. Even with the win, the Sports fell one game short of the Central League playoffs as San Angelo also won on Saturday at Pensacola.
Shreveport starter Bert Snow went six innings to record his 11th win of the season, allowing just three hits and striking out six.
The Sports took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI by Jason Torres and added two runs in the third on the 23rd home run of the season by Chad Gambill. Shreveport put the game away in the fifth inning scoring four runs highlighted by a bases loaded double by Mick Kurhan.
Shreveport finished the second half at 28-19 and in second place and 46-48 for the season.
