May 17, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release

CHICAGO - Spokane Shock DB TERRANCE SANDERS has been named National Guard MVP of the Week for his performance in Week 10 of the AFL season, as voted on by fans.

This is the third honor Sanders (5-10, 180, Eastern Illinois) has earned for his performance in Week 10 after being selected Riddell Defensive Player of the Week and JLS Ironman of the Week on Tuesday.

Sanders tallied five kick returns for 135 yards and two touchdowns on special teams. He leads the League with 68 tackles and a kick return average of 24.1 yards per return. With his two return touchdowns in Week 10, Sanders moved ahead of AFL Hall of Famers Eddie Brown and Barry Wagner and into a tie for the 18th-most career kick return touchdowns in AFL history.

Other candidates for the Week 10 National Guard MVP included Cleveland Gladiators FB/LB Jeramie Richardson and Utah Blaze WR Shaun Kauleinamoku.

The Shock (4-4) play at home Friday night at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena against the Philadelphia Soul (7-2). The game can be seen on Ustream's "AFL Live" Viewer. Kickoff is set for 11:00 p.m. ET.
