MARIETTA, GA - The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs are proud to announce that Mike Brosseau and Benton Moss from the Montgomery Biscuits have been named Southern League Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Both awards recognize these players' performances for games during the week of August 6-12. Montgomery becomes the first Southern League club this season to have both a Player and Pitcher of the Week award winner named simultaneously.

Brosseau, 24, earns Player of the Week honors after leading the Southern League in a number of offensive categories including batting average (.500), on-base percentage, (.600), slugging percentage (1.000), OPS (1.600), extra-base hits (6), and total bases (20). The Munster, Indiana native also finished among the league leaders this past week in hits (10, T-2nd), runs scored (8, 2nd), and RBI (7, T-4th).

Signed by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2016 as an undrafted free agent out of Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, Brosseau has appeared in 96 games for Montgomery during his first Southern League season.

Moss, 25, is named Pitcher of the Week following a pair of shutout victories. Overall the Tarboro, North Carolina native went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/12.0 IP), allowing just one walk while recording seven strikeouts. His 0.67 WHIP and .167 opponents' batting average were both among the lowest in the Southern League this past week.

In his last six appearances (four starts), Moss is 5-1 with a 1.62 ERA (7 ER/39.0 IP) and has allowed just six walks while registering 23 strikeouts.

During that same time frame (since July 14), the Biscuits are 17-10 as a team and currently lead the Southern League's North Division by five games. This month, Montgomery has posted a 7-3 record with all seven victories having come across their last eight games.
