South Coast League Adds Five

The South Coast League has announced today the hiring of Nick Basso, Chris Deines, Matt Krantz, Chuck Roberts, and Omar Roque who will be working out of the league office in Bluffton, SC effective immediately. Nick Basso joins the staff of the South Coast League as Coordinator of Baseball Operations. Nick comes to the South Coast League having worked for two years in affiliated minor league baseball. Prior to his time in the Carolina League, Nick worked two years as Senior Cost of Access Auditor for Global Crossing Telecommunications. "I love the game of baseball and look forward with great anticipation to the challenges that lie ahead."

Chris Deines has been named Director of Information Technologies for the South Coast League. He comes to The South Coast league after two seasons with a franchise in the Carolina League. "To be a part of this organization as we bring baseball to eight markets throughout the region is an excellent opportunity that I'm looking forward to." During his time in affiliated baseball Deines has held the titles of Director of Multimedia Operations and Director of Operations. His experience also includes a stint with the Pittsburgh Pirates Florida Operations Department.

Matt Krantz joins the South Coast League as the Director of Business Development after a two year stint with a Carolina League franchise, the second as Director of Group Sales. "I'm looking forward to bringing baseball to markets throughout the Southeast," notes Krantz. Matt previously spent a season in the marketing department with the Bowie Baysox Baseball Club in Bowie, Maryland.

Chuck Roberts comes to The South Coast league after one year in the Carolina League as Director of Operations/Merchandise and has been named Coordinator of Professional and Amateur Scouting. "I am thrilled to be a part of the South Coast League. This will show eight new communities great family entertainment that professional baseball has to offer." Chuck's previous experience includes a stint as Operations Assistant for the Greeneville Astros of the Appalachian League.

Omar Roque comes to The South Coast league after two seasons as Assistant General Manager of the Greeneville Astros of the Appalachian League. He has been named Director of Public and Media Relations for the league office. During his time in Greeneville, Omar helped establish a new market and a brand new $10 million facility. The team led the league in attendance during both his seasons. Omar also spent a season with the Pittsburgh Pirates Florida Operations Department. "I am ecstatic to be joining the staff of The South Coast League," Stated Mr. Roque. "There are many cities out there eagerly awaiting the opportunity to bring professional baseball to their town. I am proud to be a part of this process."
