
Soul to Host Eighth Annual Summer Slam in Wildwood, NJ

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul will be down at the shore on Saturday, Aug. 24 to host the Eighth Annual Summer Slam in Wildwood, NJ. The event will take place on the beach between Schellenger Avenue and Spencer Avenue from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature WJSE's Summer Beach Concert with musical acts Lit, Alien AntFarm, Hoobastank and Fuel.
Sponsored by Walgreens, the Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority, the City of Wildwood, Coors Light, Svedka Vodka, and the Wildwood Special Improvement District, the event will be free to the public. Although the concert is free, you must have a ticket to enter the concert area. A limited amount of tickets will be available through wjserrocks.com, Philadelphiasoul.com and ticketfly.com.
Details will be released on the 106.3 WJSE Facebook page for the âpresale' on June 27 and 28. Philadelphia Soul season ticket holders will also receive a âpresale' for concert tickets. The remaining free tickets will be available at 10 a.m. on June 29.

"We are excited to leverage the success of our new station, WJSE, New Jersey's only alternative rock station, to bring in top notch musical acts and create a phenomenal event for Soul fans, Wildwood residents and weekend tourists."

"The Kenny Chesney concert last summer was a big hit, so being able to be a apart of bringing another free concert to the Wildwoods with headliners like Hoobastank, Fuel, Lit and Alien Aunt Farm is great," he continued.
In addition to the musical acts provided by WJSE, Summer Slam will feature beer, soda and food vendors, a silent auction table with autographed items from our team, owner Ron Jaworski and other Philadelphia sports teams as well as interactive rides and games for kids. The Soul will also be holding a Merchandise Blowout Sale for fans to bring home their favorite Soul gear. In attendance will be Soul players, coaches, Soulmates and Soulman.
A men's 7-on-7 and a co-ed 8-on-8 flag football tournament will begin at 10 a.m. on the beach. To register your team now, go to www.playphillysports.com.
Fans are invited to continue the celebration with players and Soulmates at the post event party at the Boardwalk Bar and Grill (3500 Atlantic Ave) from 7-9 p.m. Food and drink specials will be available.
Alien Ant Farm
Best known for their 2001 hit - "Smooth Criminal," which was a cover of the 1987 single by Michael Jackson. Alien Ant Farm has sold more than 5 million units worldwide and are releasing their fifth studio album this year. The band has also seen a number of their songs featured in movies, videogames and on soundtracks, including American Pie 2, Spider-Man, and in the Madden NFL franchise. "Smooth Criminal" has been viewed over 27 million times on YouTube.
Lit
Lit rose to fame 1999 with "My Own Worst Enemy," a catchy tune that was a huge hit with the MTV generation. The band continued to be an alternative rock hit machine with seven songs in the top-40 of the alternative charts from 1999 to 2004. The band took a break and for awhile before releasing a new album in 2012. Their most recent major touring effort took place last year on the Summerland tour, which also featured Everclear, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Marcy Playground, and Buckcherry.
Hoobastank
Selling more than 10 million albums worldwide, Hoobastank has one 2x platinum album, a second that went platinum, and a third gold album. The band first started to make noise in 2001 with "Crawling in the Dark and "Running Away" in 2002. The third year would be a charm as "The Reason" stands as the bands biggest hit. The video is closing in on 60 million hits on YouTube and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was nominated for a Grammy as Song of the Year.
Fuel
Top hits include Shimmer, Hemorrhage (In My Hands), Bad Day, and Falls on Me. Fuel grew to popularity playing bars and nightclubs in and around Philadelphia in the 90's. Top Albums include Sunburn, which went platinum, and Something Like Human, which went 2x platinum. The band is expected to release a new album later this year. Fuel has toured in the past with bands like Aerosmith, Kid Rock, 3 Doors Down, and Creed.
