Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA (May 22, 2014) - The Defending, Back-to-Back American Conference Champion Philadelphia Soul announce the re-signing of wide receiver, Emery Sammons (6'2, 190, Norfolk State).

Sammons spent two seasons playing for the Philadelphia Soul (2012-2013) reaching the ArenaBowl each year. In 2012, he had 48 receptions for 598 yards and eight TDs with the Soul. The following year in 2013, he had 10 catches for 125 yards and one TD with the Soul. Prior to playing with the Soul,

Sammons spent two seasons with the Spokane Shock (2010-2011) where he tallied 85 receptions for 973 yards, 11 TDs and capture the 2010 ArenaBowl title.

Previous to his career in the AFL, Sammons spent time in the af2 with the Manchester Wolves (2008-2009). In his 2009 season with the Wolves, he was named to the all-af2 team. He recorded 102 catches for 1,146 yards and 28 TDs. Before he joined the af2, he was invited to two NFL mini-camps with the Philadelphia Eagles and was a member of the Philadelphia Soul and New York Dragons preseason rosters.

In his collegiate career, Sammons played for Norfolk State (2004-2006). With Norfolk State, he was one of their main offensive threats and remains second in all-time receiving yards (1,220).

The Philadelphia Soul (5-4) will face the San Antonio Talons (1-8) next Sunday, June 1 at 5 p.m. in the Wells Fargo Center. The game can also be seen on ESPNews/WatchESPN.
