Philadelphia Soul News Release
PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Philadelphia Soul (2-0) won their 19th straight home game last night in their home opener against the Baltimore Brigade (1-1) at the Wells Fargo Center in front of 9,326 fans. Fans were on the edge of their seats all game long as the Soul and Brigade exchanged scores throughout the game, with no team ever extending their lead beyond 8 points. This tight gap in leads can be easily seen in the game's Box Score:
Score by Quarters 1 2 3 4 TOTAL
Baltimore Brigade 2 21 7 14 49
Philadelphia Soul 6 21 7 20 54
The nail-biter game was filled with plays from multiple Soul players who led the team to keep their winning streak alive. The Soul's most consistent and fearless leader, QB Dan Raudabaugh, threw 28 completions of 34 attempts for 321 yards and 6 touchdowns. This is Raudabaugh's second straight game without an interception. The Soul's Wide Receiver squad of Darius "Money" Reynolds, Shaun "SK" Kauleinamoku and Week 1 leader Darius Prince completed crucial plays leading to the team's win. Reynolds totaled 11 receptions for 151 yards and 4 touchdowns, making him the clear offensive leader of the game. Kauleinamoku tallied 8 receptions for 89 yards and Prince continued his impressive start in 2018 by hauling in 7 receptions for 70 yards and 1 touchdown. Soul rookie OL PhillipKeith Manley added to the scoring with his first Soul career touchdown, an 8-yard pass, in the fourth quarter.
The Soul DB crew followed suit and worked together to hold off the Brigade offense. The DB "Dynamic Duo" of Dwayne Hollis and James Romain led the team with 6 and 4 tackles respectively. Brigade QB Randy Hippeard experienced the Soul defensive close and personal when he was sacked twice, once by FB/LB Jeramie Richardson and then by DL Thomas Dover. Richardson also totaled 6 carries for 15 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The Soul have proven themselves to be a dangerous opponent in the Arena Football League, especially on their home turf in the city of not only brotherly love, but now also champions. The team is ready to keep the winning going on Saturday, April 28th as they are back at the Wells Fargo Center with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
