Philadelphia Soul News Release

PHILADELPHIA - After a back-and-forth battle in which neither team was ever more than a touchdown behind, the Philadelphia Soul (6-2) fell to the Milwaukee Mustangs (3-4), 64-63. This was the Soul's second loss of the season as they ended their four-game winning streak in front of 8,674 fans at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday night.

"The team is really disappointed in tonight's results," said Soul head coach Doug Plank. "I know we can bounce back. It starts with the coaching staff and our coaches have been in similar situations before. There's no question in my mind that this time will be able to get back on track."

Philadelphia's QB Dan Raudabaugh finished by connecting on 26-of-45 passes for 366 yards, seven touchdowns and no interceptions. Tiger Jones had twelve receptions for 183 yards and four touchdowns, while Jeff Hughley had seven receptions for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Hughley also had seven kick returns for 131 yards. Derrick Ross added 11 rushes for 51 yards and two touchdowns.

Milwaukee's QB Gino Guidulgi connected 13-of-21 passes for 246 yards, eight touchdowns, two interceptions and one sack. Guidulgi also had four carries for a gain of 23 yards.. WR Josue Paul had six receptions for 141 yards and four touchdowns while Andrae Thurman had four interceptions for 86 yards and three touchdowns.

Guidugli started the game by connecting 33-yard touchdown pass to Thurman. Soul defensive pressure and a sack in the endzone by Darrell Campbell put Philadelphia on the board with a safety for two points. Jones received a 13-yard touchdown pass from Raudabaugh followed by another 27-yard touchdown reception by Thurman. With only five seconds on the clock and Milwaukee leading 13-8, Hughley battled through Milwaukee defense for a touchdown, ending the first quarter with Philadelphia leading 15-13.

Philadelphia began the second quarter with a 10-yard touchdown by Jones followed by Guidugli's 44-yard touchdown pass to Paul. Jones answered back by receiving a short pass at the 5-yard line and running the length of the field for a touchdown. A 14-yard touchdown pass to Thurman and a completed field goal by Josh Smith brought the first half to an end with Milwaukee leading 29-28.

Hughley had two 30-yard touchdowns in the third quarter which were answered by a 7-yard touchdown reception by Jared Jenkins and a 28-yard touchdown reception by Paul. The third quarter ended with the Mustangs leading 43-42.

The battle continued in the fourth quarter as the teams continued to take turns scoring. Ross ran for two touchdowns and Jones scored on a 32-yard pass. Milwaukee's Kelvin Rodgers scored on a 56-yard kick return and Paul had a 45-yard touchdown reception. The Soul failed to answer a final touchdown by Paul with 44 seconds remaining and Milwaukee won the game, 64-63.

The Soul will face the Jacksonville Sharks next Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. The game will be broadcast on The Comcast Network with Lou Tilley and Tom Goodhines calling the action.
