Soul Stay on Top After Best Start in Franchise History

PHILADELPHIA (July 2, 2015) - With the Soul's best start in franchise history, the team stays on top in the City of Brotherly Love. Since 2012, the Philadelphia Soul have had the highest winning percentage in town out of all the Philadelphia professional sports teams. Over the last four years, they have a winning record of 48-20. Lead by a strong group of veterans, the team clinched home field advantage for the first round of playoffs Saturday, August 15.

TEAM WINNING PERCENTAGE

SOUL (48-20) 0.706

Flyers (98-83-31) 0.535

Eagles (24-24) 0.5

Phillies (254-310) 0.45

Union (36-51-32) 0.437

76ers (71-175) 0.289

"The guys don't think about that stuff," said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel. "We are proud to represent the city in a positive light with the goal of bringing the championship back to Philadelphia."

Led offensively by MVP and Offensive Player of the Year candidate, Dan Raudabaugh, the team started the season 7-0 before their first loss of the season. Raudabuagh leads the League with 3,985 passing yards and 94 touchdowns for the season. He is a top candidate for season awards and is currently catching the eye of the NFL as a future prospect.

WR Marco Thomas joined the Soul's roster this year after spending five years in the league with two previous teams. Thomas is having a standout season, ranked No. 3 in the League with 1,464 receiving yards for 34 total touchdowns. He leads the Soul receivers in yards and touchdowns after playing 13 games.

All-Arena and Defensive Player of the Year candidate, James Romain has kept the momentum going for the Soul defensively. Romain is ranked No. 3 in the League with nine interceptions for the season and is third overall on the Soul with 49.0 total tackles. He is in his third year with the Soul and was with the team during their 2013 ArenaBowl run.

In the past three seasons, the Soul have managed to clinch a playoff spot each time as well as two ArenaBowl appearances with head coach Clint Dolezel leading the charge. Along with the newly added defensive coordinator, Derek Stingley, and former All-Arena and ArenaBowl champion, Phil Bogle, on to the coaching staff, the Soul have been off to a great start this season.

"From an overall organization standpoint, we have the same philosophy from the top down," said Soul General Manager Tom Goodhines. "On and off the field we take pride in being the best because Philadelphia fans want and deserve a winner."

The Soul are owned by Co-majority owners Craig Spencer and Ron Jaworski and are joined on the ownership group by current NFL receiver Marques Colston, Cosmo DeNicola, Pete Ciarrocchi, and Marty Judge.

The Soul currently lead the League in Total Offense (307.1 yards per game) and are second in Total Defense (250.5 yards per game). They are second in the League behind San Jose in number of touchdowns scored for the season (58.0). The Soul also have a player in all eight League leader categories.

With the addition of new players this season, it is certainly apparent that the veterans have shown what it means to be a member of the Soul and take pride that they play for one of the best fan bases in the country.

The Soul look to stay undefeated at home on Saturday, July 11 as they face the Cleveland Gladiators (7-7) for the second time this season. The game is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. at the Wells Fargo Center.
