Eagles look to stay hot as they take on the Fighting Falcons

The Soo Eagles, who are currently riding a four game winning streak, will look to stay hot, as they take on the Port Huron Fighting Falcons at Pullar stadium this Friday and Saturday night.

The Fighting Falcons are fifth place in the North Division with a 16-13-2 record and 34 points, 11 points behind the first place Eagles and Jamestown Ironmen. This is the first meeting of the season between these two teams at Pullar Stadium. The Eagles earned three points on the road at Port Huron on October 5-6, with a win and loss in a shootout. These teams will meet four more times after this weekend's series.

This weekend, middle school and high school students, with their school ID, can enter a drawing for an X-Box 360. The X-Box winner will be drawn on Sault High Appreciation Night, Saturday, December 29th. All Sault High students will receive a discount on their tickets, along with other special events.

Soo Eagles 2, Michigan Warriors - Saturday, December 22, 2012

The Soo Eagles defeated the Michigan Warriors, 2-1 on Saturday night at Pullar Stadium, sweeping the series and keeping pace with the Jamestown Ironmen, for top spot in the North Division.

Eagles net minder, Zach Nagelvoort, had a standout game making 47 saves, and earning the game's first star.

Jamestown swept the Kalmazoo Jr. K-Wings this weekend as both teams continue their hot play and are starting to separate themselves a bit from the teams chasing them.

The Soo's Eric Rivard, scored the game-winning goal, on the power play, 9:57 into the third period to make the score 2-1.

The Soo also got points from Michael Crowley, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points.

Michigan was led by Brad Pizzey, who scored the team's only goal. Pizzey scored 2:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Michigan. Corey Schueneman provided the assist.

Soo Eagles 3, Michigan Warriors 2 - Friday, December 21, 2012

First place met last place on Friday night at Pullar Stadium, as the Soo Eagles played the Michigan Warriors for the seventh time this season, however, it was the first place team that needed two late goals, as the Eagles snatched a 3-2 victory, in front of 503 fans at Pullar Stadium.

With the win, the Eagles stay in a first place tie with the Jamestown Ironmen, who defeated Kalamazoo in a shoot out.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Jared VanWormer's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker, as he beat Dillon Kelley with a quick wrist shot, for his 10th goal of the season.

The Eagles fired 40 shots on goal, and received goals from Alexander Taulien and Pat Thompson, his first as an Eagles.

Eagles goaltender, Tyler Marble, was solid once again between the pipes, stopping 42 of 44 shots his way.

Martin Gruse and Jon Farkas had the goals for Michigan.
