
Somerset Medical Center Named Presenting Sponsor

Somerset, N.J. (Wednesday, February 17, 2010) - Defending Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) Champion Sky Blue FC announced today that Somerset Medical Center has been named the presenting sponsor of the team for its upcoming season of play. Somerset Medical Center, which is based in central New Jersey, will also be the player jersey title sponsor of Sky Blue FC, in addition to being the official medical providers of the team.
"This is the right partnership at the right time, and it is one worthy of our Championship team," Sky Blue FC General Manager Gerry Marrone stated. "Somerset Medical Center's Sports Performance & Rehabilitation Center offers advanced training in sports medicine. Their work with other professional sports teams, combined with their expertise in strength, conditioning, speed and agility, is an ideal partnership for us. We are overwhelmed with their enthusiasm in just a brief amount of time planning our joint initiative."
Somerset Medical Center's Sports Performance & Rehabilitation Center will also handle injury prevention and physical therapy for the players of Sky Blue FC. In addition, both organizations will partner in community initiatives.
"We look forward to working with the outstanding athletes at Sky Blue FC to help them stay on top of their game and gain a competitive edge," said Dr. Jack Kripsak, medical director of Somerset Medical Center's Sports Performance & Rehabilitation Center. "Our trainers and therapists have extensive experience working with athletes of all ages and abilities, from Olympians and the pros to high school athletes and 'weekend warriors.' In addition, David Abrutyn, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Somerset Medical Center, will serve as the team's orthopedic surgeon. We are proud to expand into the exciting and growing sport of women's soccer."
