
Small Ball: Rush Double up Bandits

Buffalo,NY--The Edmonton Rush (7-5) extended their winning streak to four games and handed the Buffalo Bandits (5-7) their fourth-straight loss with a 14-7 road win before a crowd of 16,629 at First Niagara Center on Saturday night.
Bandits rookie Dhane Smith opened the scoring 1:37 into the game but the Rush responded with a four-goal run, three scored by Corey Small, in less than five minutes for a 4-1 lead midway through the first quarter. After Buffalo stopped the run, Edmonton scored twice more for a 6-2 lead after 15 minutes of play.
The Rush widened their lead in the second quarter to go into halftime up 9-4 and pulled away by scoring three goals in the final 3:16 of the third quarter to increase the margin to 13-6.
Small finished with a game-high seven points (4+3), Jarrett Davis (1+4) and Ryan Ward (1+4) had five points, and rookies Curtis Knight (3+1) and Mark Matthews (1+3) each added four points.
Buffalo's Alex "Kedoh" Hill, recently acquired via trade from the Rochester Knighthawks before the trade deadline, scored three goals in his Bandits debut while Smith (2+1) and Aaron Wilson (1+2) recorded three points as the team lost their fifth-straight game in "Banditland."
Rush goalie Aaron Bold made 35 saves on 42 shots while Bandits netminder Anthony Cosmo and Kurtis Wagar had 49 stops on 63 shots in the loss.
Edmonton will visit the Toronto Rock (8-3) for a Sunday matinee at Air Canada Centre at 1 p.m. MST.
