SLIPPERY ROCK, PA -- The Slippery Sliders sprayed the ball all over the field in the 2010 season finale for a 16-6 blowout win over the Lorain County Ironmen Saturday night in Prospect League action at Jack Critchfield Park on the campus of Slippery Rock University. The Sliders ended the 2010 season with a 12-15 record in the second half and 21-33 overall.
The Sliders jumped all over the Ironmen in the bottom of the first inning with seven runs on six hits as 12 batters came to the plate for Slippery Rock. Matt Baer (West Chester University/Shade Gap, Pa.) had the big hit in the inning on a two-run blast to center field for his sixth home run of the season. Baer also hit his seventh home run of the season and second of the night in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Sliders a 15-2 lead. Baer ended his spectacular night 3-for-5 with two home runs, ground rule double, one walk, six RBI and three runs scored.
Erick Miranda (Compton College/Bellflower, Calif.) also recorded two singles, one RBI and one run scored in the first inning alone.

Everyone contributed in the 18-hit outburst as the entire Sliders starting lineup recorded at least one hit and one RBI. The entire starting lineup for the Ironmen also had at least one hit. The season finale featured 22 runs, 32 hits and two errors total between the two teams.
Mark Allen Bounds (Austin Peay University/Strawberry Plains, Tenn.), primarily used out of the bullpen this summer, made his second start for the Sliders and picked up the win after 7.0 innings of work with six runs allowed, five strikeouts and no walks.
Aaron Hilt (Ashland University) lasted just one inning for Lorain County, allowing seven runs (three earned) on six hits and one walk with no strikeouts for the loss.
The Sliders finish the second half in second place in the Eastern Division, but do not qualify for the postseason after finishing behind West Virginia in overall record.
