
Slam's Jones signs with USC Heidelberg in Germany

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam have announced that another of its players from the 2006-07 season has signed a contract to play overseas this season. Forward Michael Jones has signed on to play for USC Heidelberg in Germany's second division.
Jones, a graduate of the University of Arkansas, averaged 14.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in a reserve role with the Slam last season. Jones also ranked as Bellingham's best free throw shooter last season, connecting on 85.3 percent of shots from the foul line. Jones' best game for the Slam came early last season, when he scored 30 points in a loss to the Hollywood Fame on Nov. 17, 2006.
Jones has already joined his new team in Heidelberg, located in southwest Germany, and is averaging 14.0 points per game after three exhibition games. Heidelberg's regular season begins next week and runs through April.
The Bellingham Slam recently announced that it will play in the International Basketball League for the 2008 season, beginning in March, after participating in the American Basketball Association for the previous two seasons.
