Bellingham Slam News Release
BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam have announced that guard Paul Hafford has signed with the Ulriken Eagles, a top-division team located in Bergen, Norway. Hafford will depart for Norway today and will join the team immediately in preparation for their next game on December 5.
Hafford was selected to join Ulriken after participating in a tryout for the NBA Development League's Bakersfield Jam. The Jam's Taylor Mullenax will also join Hafford on the Eagles' roster in Norway. Norwegian teams are allowed to have two foreign-born players on their rosters.
Hafford and Mullenax have been brought in to help bolster a team which has struggled to a 0-12 start in Norway's BLNO league. The Eagles, without any American players on their roster, lost their last game by a score of 118-20 on November 22.
Hafford, a graduate of Lynden Christian High School and Portland State University, played last winter in Romania before returning to Bellingham in May. In 12 games for the Slam last season, Hafford averaged 12.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.
Hafford was instrumental in helping Bellingham capture the International Basketball League championship in 2008. He put up 30 points an earned co-MVP honors in the title game against the Elkhart Express.
