April 21, 2009 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Bellingham Slam News Release
OREM, Utah - The return of Ryan Diggs to the Bellingham Slam's roster has been delayed as his Utah Flash NBA Development League team has earned a trip to the league championship series by virtue of a 103-93 semi-final victory over the Dakota Wizards on Monday.
The Flash will face the Colorado 14ers in a best-of-three series beginning on Wednesday at the McKay Events Center in Orem. Game two will take place in Broomfield, Colo. on Friday, and game three, if necessary, will occur on Monday, also in Broomfield.
All games tip-off at 7 p.m. Mountain time and can be viewed live on the D-League's website at www.nba.com/dleague.
Diggs will be attempting to secure his second championship in less than a year as he helped the Slam to the International Basketball League title last July.
Diggs, the first Bellingham Slam and Western Washington University player to compete in the NBA Development League, has seen action in 41 games this season for Utah, averaging 4.0 points and 1.4 assists per game.
Following the conclusion of the D-League championship series, Diggs will be returning to a Slam team that already features a number of former WWU standouts, including Tyler Amaya, Jacob Stevenson and Ira Graham.
The Slam return to the court Friday when they take on the Vancouver Volcanoes at 7 p.m. at Whatcom Pavilion. Diggs could re-join the Slam in time for their May 1 game at home against the Snohomish County Explosion.
