BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam have signed former Western Washington University guard Ira Graham for the 2009 season, the team announced today. Graham will join the Slam following his participation in the 2009 NCAA Division II All-Star Game, which takes place Friday in Springfield, Mass.

Graham, 22, finished his Viking career seventh among the program's career scoring leaders with 1,465 points. Last season, Graham helped lead WWU to a 21-6 record and the school's first outright Great Northwest Athletic Conference title. As a senior, he averaged 19.1 points and 3.2 assists per game, and became the first Viking to post two 500-point seasons. Graham was also a two-time, first team GNAC all-star and this season's GNAC Player of the Year.

Graham will be one of two future Slam players to appear in this season's Division II All-Star Game. Recent signee Jake Linton, from Saint Martin's University, will join Graham at the event. The all-star game is comprised of teams from the East and West, with at least two players from each of the eight NCAA II regions competing in the contest. The game will take place on March 27 as part of the events surrounding the Division II Elite Eight tournament. Both Graham and Linton will compete for the West squad.

Another member of the Slam, guard Ryan Diggs, participated in the inaugural Division II All-Star game in 2006 and captured game co-MVP honors.

Graham is expected to be in the lineup when the Slam open the 2009 International Basketball League season at home on April 3 against the Seattle Mountaineers. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Whatcom Pavilion.
