Bellingham Slam News Release

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam regrouped to rout the Central Oregon Hotshots, 103-79, in an International Basketball League contest at Whatcom Pavilion on Monday.

The 79 points allowed set a new team record for the Slam, besting their previous record of 80 points set on February 14, 2006 against the Los Angeles Aftershock.

The Slam appeared eager to return to the court following their rough road trip to Edmonton which netted them one win in three tries. They raced out to a 16-5 lead just six minutes in, thanks in part to a pair of three-pointers by Morris Anderson.

The Slam extended their lead to 55-38 at halftime after Ryan Diggs and Paul Hafford combined to post 21 points in the second quarter.

Central Oregon never threatened in the second half, and scored just 17 points in the third quarter.

Despite playing their fourth game in five nights, Bellingham extended their lead to 27 points, at 94-67, with five minutes left on a jumper from Diggs.

Jacob Stevenson solidified his place as one of the IBL's top offensive talents with 28 points, while Hafford added 18. Ike Ohanson finished with a season-high 20 rebounds.

Justin Lockhart accounted for over a quarter of Central Oregon's tallies with 20 points.

Bellingham dominated the boards all night long, out-rebounding the Hotshots 73-47.

The Slam face the Hotshots again in their next home game on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Whatcom Pavilion.
