Slam Roll to Easy Win over Kitsap, 166-117

BELLINGHAM, Wash. -The Bellingham Slam posted their third best offensive night in team history as they routed the Kitsap Admirals, 166-117, in an International Basketball League game at Whatcom Pavilion on Friday.

Bellingham (2-1) broke open a competitive game in the late stages of the second quarter, closing the frame with a 35-8 run in the final six minutes to take a 30-point lead into halftime, at 75-45.

The Slam continued their offensive showcase throughout the second half, extending their lead as high as 50, at 121-71, late in the third quarter.

Kitsap (0-1) didn't fare much better in the fourth quarter, as they were only able to trim the deficit into the low forties before the Slam closed the game with a 15-5 run.

Center Blake Poole, in his first game back from Germany, led four Slam players to score at least 20 points with 28, and added a game-high 18 rebounds. Guard Rico Wilkins also had a productive night with 26 points.

Guards Tysaiah Curry and Jameel Shareef accounted for the bulk of Kitsap's offensive production, with 31 and 28 points, respectively.

The Slam travel to Oregon for a two-game road trip next weekend against Portland and Salem, before returning to Bellingham to face the Japan Tornadoes on May 10. A 7 p.m. tip-off is scheduled at Whatcom Pavilion.
