May 13, 2010 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Bellingham Slam News Release

BELLINGHAM, Wash.-The Bellingham Slam return from a two-week break as they play host to the British Columbia Titans on Friday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.at Whatcom Pavilion.

The break in action has given the Slam plenty of time to reflect on their last game, a 110-107 loss to the Titans suffered on May 2 at Langley, B.C. The Slam have not lost two games in a row since 2007, and have never endured consecutive setbacks as a member of the International Basketball League.

Friday's contest will be the third of four consecutive games against British Columbia. The two teams round out their season series on Sunday afternoon at the Langley Events Centre.

The Slam will need a pair of victories this weekend to stay within striking distance of the IBL's International Division leaders, the Olympia Reign (6-2) and the Yamhill Highflyers (5-1). The Slam currently rank fourth in the division with a 3-2 record, one-half game behind British Columbia(4-2).

Bellinghamwill likely continue to rely on the duo of guard Jacob Stevenson and center Ike Ohanson to help lead the team. Stevenson is ranked first on the Slam and fourth in the IBL in scoring, with 28 points per game, while Ike Ohanson is first on the team and third in the league in rebounding with 11 boards per game.

Friday's match-up will be the professional debut of center Zach Bruce, who was signed by the Slam earlier this week. The ex-Viking, who averaged 10.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this winter as a senior, is expected to give the Slam much-needed depth in the post.

Friday's game is another Slam College Night, which college students able to purchase a general admission ticket for just $4 with their student ID. The Slam is also extending the College Night ticket offer to WWU Alumni Association members who are visiting Bellinghamthis weekend as part of the university's Back2Bellingham series of events.
