Bellingham Slam News Release
MONROE, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam will make their International Basketball League playoff debut this Saturday as they battle the Edmonton Chill in the second round of the 2008 IBL Western Conference Championship in Monroe. The game will mark the third straight trip to the championship quarterfinals, as they made back-to-back Elite Eight appearances in their first two seasons in the American Basketball Association.
The Slam will face the Chill in the second round by virtue of Edmonton's 127-124 victory over the Portland Chinooks in first-round action on Friday night.
The Slam swept the season series against Edmonton, 2-0. Both victories came on the road in Edmonton, with Lukas Henne and Ryan Diggs leading the way for the Slam with a 25.5 and 23.5 points per game scoring average, respectively, against Edmonton.
Saturday's Slam game against Edmonton will tip-off at 5:00 p.m. Saturday. Should the Slam advance to the conference championship game, the game would begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. All tournament games are being played at the Sports Arena at Monroe High School in Monroe.
