Bellingham Slam News Release
Bellingham, Wash. -- The Bellingham Slam used the hot shooting Jacob Stevenson to defeat the Beijing Olympians, 127-107, in an American Basketball Association game Wednesday night at Whatcom Pavilion.
Stevenson, who has scored at least 20 points in all five games this season, poured in 27 points on 10-of-17 shooting. He shared high-scoring honors with Mike Parker.
The Slam used a 20-point first half performance from Brandon Hartley to build a 17-point halftime lead at 60-43. Hartley finished with 25 in the game.
Bellingham flipped on the cruise control in the second half, maintaining a comfortable double-digit lead for the entire half, allowing coach Rob Ridnour to utilize some reserve players. The Slam shot 58 percent for the game, their best shooting night thus far this season.
Beijing has six players score in double figures, led by Josh Murray with 25 points. Li Wei and Huang Hai Bei added 19 and 18 points, respectively.
The Slam hit the road next week, with a game in King County on Dec. 3 before heading to southern California for three games. The Slam's next home game is set for Tuesday, Dec. 12. Tip-off will be at 7 p.m. at Whatcom Pavilion.
