Bellingham Slam News Release
BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam broke out to an early first quarter lead and never looked back in a 143-93 win over the Seattle Flight in the International Basketball League opener for both teams.
The Slam led by 11 after the first quarter, at 35-24, and were not seriously challenged after Seattle narrowed the gap to 9 early in the second quarter. The Slam led 66-47 at halftime.
Bellingham's big lead allowed head coach Tyler Amaya to utilize his entire bench and give some much-needed court time to the team's new rookies.
Jacob Stevenson led seven Slam players in double figures with 23 points, with rookie guard Sam Freeman close behind with 22.
Brandon Adams led Seattle with 19 points.
The Slam get little rest as they travel to Vancouver to face the Volcanoes on Saturday in a 2013 IBL championship game rematch. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at Clark College.
