EDMONTON, Alta. - The Bellingham Slam nearly overcame a 13-point fourth quarter deficit, but fell to the Edmonton Energy, 132-129, in an up-tempo International Basketball League game at Jasper Place High School on Thursday.

The two teams traded leads several times during the first half before Edmonton began to pull away in the third quarter.

Edmonton scored eight of the fourth quarter's first ten points to give them their first double-digit lead, at 109-96. But Bellingham clawed back thanks to a late 15-4 run to get the margin down to one point twice in the final two minutes of the game. After a couple defensive stops, the Slam had chances to take the lead but were unable to convert.

Stevenson finished with a career high of 37 points on, while Ike Ohanson had 18. Stevenson was also the game's leading rebounder with 12.

Stephen Sir led seven Edmonton players with 24 points. Benson Callier contributed a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds.

The two teams continue their three game series with a match-up Friday. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Van Vliet Centre.
