Bellingham Slam News Release

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam have made a pair of roster changes today with the addition of forward Colin Matteson to the team's lineup.

Matteson will be filling a roster spot previously held by forward Jeremy Green, who has left the team, citing personal reasons for his departure.

Colin Matteson, a 6-foot-8 graduate of the University of Alaska at Fairbanks, is the older brother of current Slam player Evan Matteson, who joined the team at the end of May.

After spending one year at Edmonds Community College, Colin transferred to UAF, where he averaged 10.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in three seasons. He was named as the team's Most Valuable Player during his junior and senior seasons.

Following college, Colin spent two years playing professionally in Germany and Australia.

The Slam have also announced that Evan Matteson, Colin's younger brother, will miss the remainder of the regular season as he has been invited to participate in the Gran Canaria Summer League Invitational taking place later this month in Las Palmas, Spain. The opportunity will allow Evan a chance to showcase his skills in front of European scouts as he works towards landing an overseas contract for the winter basketball season. The camp will conclude in time for Evan to re-join the Slam in time for the start of the IBL playoffs.

The Slam return to action after a 12-day layoff with a home-and-home series against the Yamhill Highflyers this weekend. The Slam travel to McMinnville, Ore., on Friday for a match-up with the Highflyers at Linfield College, and then will face each other in a re-match in Bellingham on Saturday, with a 7 p.m. tip-off set for Whatcom Pavilion.

The Slam have just four regular season games remaining before they host the 2012 IBL Championship Tournament, running July 5-8 at Whatcom Pavilion.
