
Sky Blue FC advances to Super Semifinal

BOYDS, MD - In the first-ever WPS Playoff game in league history Saturday, Sky Blue FC defeated the Washington Freedom, 2-1, on a hot day at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Maryland.
Substitute Natasha Kai opened the scoring for Sky Blue FC in the 55th minute before a nice strike by Washington's Lisa De Vanna tied it in the 78th minute. Six minutes later, Francielle scored for Sky Blue FC to notch the game-winner and move them into the Super Semifinal on Wednesday, August 19, when they will take on Saint Louis Athletica on the Athletica's home field at The Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park in Fenton, MO. Saint Louis earned the right to host the Super Semifinal as the second-place finisher in the WPS Regular Season. The game will be shown at 7pm ET on Fox Soccer Channel.
The winner of the Super Semifinal will head to the WPS Championship presented by MedImmune on August 22 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA to take on regular season champion Los Angeles Sol. The WPS Championship will kick-off at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT on Saturday, August 22 with television coverage produced by Fox Soccer Channel and carried live on Fox Sports Net and select regional outlets. The telecast will begin with a live 30-minute pregame show at 3:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. PT (check local listings).
