CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - Quality pitching and a six-home-run barrage helped the Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, beat the West Virginia Miners 10-1 at VA Memorial Stadium Wednesday night.

West Virginia (11-26) scored the game's first run. Clayton Mehlbauer reached on a walk and scored on a sacrifice fly by Clay Wisner, giving the Miners an early, and short-lived, 1-0 lead.

The next half-inning, Trey Smith was hit by a pitch to start the inning and Collin Luty launched a two-run home run two batters later, making it a 2-1 ballgame and giving the Paints the lead for good.

Cole Andrews added to his league-best RBI total in the third inning, scoring Chris Eisel with a single. Trey Smith followed with a two-run double, extending the Paints' lead to 5-1.

Andrews led off the bottom of the fifth with a home run. Collin Luty hit his second of the game three batters later, making it 7-1.

The Paints hit back-to-back home runs to start the bottom of the sixth, as Eisel and Gavin Homer each went deep, giving the Paints a 9-1 lead.

Eisel hit his second home run of the game leading off the bottom of the eighth inning, finishing the scoring at 10-1.

Mitch Milheim (4-1) earned the win in his first start of the season. The lefthander threw five innings, allowing one run on one hit, walking four and striking out six. Jay Ward threw three innings, allowing one hit and striking out five. Cal McAninch finished the game, throwing a perfect ninth, striking out one batter.

West Virginia's Chance Cornett (0-3) took the loss. He started and lasted just three innings, allowing five earned runs on six hits, walking two and striking out five.
