Vancouver, B.C. – May 8, 2003 – The Canadian Baseball League is pleased to announce the signing of former Major Leaguer Steve Sinclair. The one-time Toronto Blue Jays and Seattle Mariners pitcher will suit up for his hometown Victoria Capitals this season.

"We're happy to have Steve join the league," said CBL chairman Tony Riviera. "He's a big league pitcher, and a Victoria native, so the fit is perfect."

Originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the 28th round of the June 1991 free agent draft, Sinclair made his major league debut on April 25, 1998 with Toronto. He played for the Jays in 1998 and part of 1999 before being traded to the Seattle Mariners as part of a trade for first baseman David Segui.

In 2000 he led the AAA Tacoma Rainiers pitching staff with 45 appearances. He spent the past two seasons with the Iowa Cubs, AAA affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. This season he appeared in six games with Iowa, striking out nine while walking three in nine innings pitched, registering an ERA of 4.00.
