Sime Named First Star of the Week
November 2, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release
Wildcats goaltender Julian Sime has earned the South Division's 1st Star of the Week, the NAHL announced Monday.
The 17-year-old Canadian net-minder earned his first shutout as a Wildcat on Saturday against the Corpus Christi IceRays, and backstopped the Wildcats to their third sweep of the season. He made 32 saves on 33 shots faced over the weekend.
"Julian made timely saves for us in both games this past weekend. When it was a close game, he came up big for our team when we needed him most," Wildcats President and GM Paul Baxter said. "He is very young and we are confident he'll continue to develop, so we're excited to see his progress as he continues to improve."
Sime is the youngest goalie in the South Division and has shown promise early in the season. He now boasts a 4-1-1 as well as a 2.14 goals against average and a .904 save percentage.
