
SIFL Names Players of the Week
April 20, 2011 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL) News Release
LAKE CHARLES, La. - The Southern Indoor Football announces its Players Of The Week for week five of the regular season.
OFFENSE: RB Anthony Merit (Columbus Lions) and WR Timon Marshall (Houston Stallions) - Merit showed skill in all phases of the game in the Lions' 106-35 record rout of the Mobile Bay Tarpons. He set an SIFL record with four rushing touchdowns, caught one touchdown and returned a kickoff for score. He also completed his only pass attempt for nine yards.
Marshall set an SIFL record with six touchdown catches, with two coming in the fourth quarter as the Stallions erased a nine-point deficit.
Special recognition is also given to quarterbacks Chris McCoy of Columbus and Adam DiMichele of Erie, who each threw an SIFL record ten touchdown passes in their respective victories last week.
DEFENSE: Eric Wicks (Erie Explosion) and Keon Latimore (Trenton Steel). Wicks registered three interception in the Explosion's 89-35 victory over Harrisburg while Latimore took two picks to the house to help the Steel defeat Carolina 86-42.
SPECIAL TEAMS: Wes Virgilio (Albany Panthers) Virgilio was 6-7 on PATs, registered three Unos and made his only field goal attempt in Albany's 47-26 victory over Alabama.
