Siaha Earns Second-Consecutive TOTW Honor
June 27, 2023 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Monterey Bay FC News Release
SEASIDE, Calif. - Following Monterey Bay's 1-0 shutout win over Miami FC - the Union's fourth win in a row and fifth match unbeaten - MBFC goalkeeper Antony Siaha has been named to the USL Championship Team of the Week for the second week in a row, this time for Week 16 of the 2023 regular season.
Saturday night's clean sheet against Miami was Siaha's fourth clean sheet on the season (fifth in all competitions) and third clean sheet in a row, bringing his current shutout streak to a total of 301 minutes and counting. Named the top goalkeeper in the league for the second consecutive week, Siaha stepped up to save his second penalty of the season when he blanked Kyle Murphy's attempt in the latter stages of the match over the weekend.
The Cameroonian has now saved both penalties that he has faced this season. Scoreless at the time, Siaha's penalty save not only kept the Crisp and Kelp from going behind, but it also sparked an electric counterattack that resulted in Monterey Bay taking the lead less than 15 seconds later. Siaha finished the match with four saves, bringing his total on the season to 29 saves in 40 shots faced (73% save percentage). Through 10 matches played this season, Siaha now boasts a solid 1.10 goals allowed average.
Below is USL Championship's full Team of the Week for Week 16 lined up in a 3-4-3 formation:
Goalkeeper - Antony Siaha (MB)
