The Shreveport Sports got back on the winning track with a convincing 10-1 win over Amarillo Thursday night at Fair Grounds Field as the Sports took three of four in the series from the Dillas.
Righthander Ian Doiron (1-2) pitched eight innings for the Sports, notching his first win of the season.
The Sports scored four runs in the first with just two hits as starter and losing pitcher Elliot Shaw (0-2) gave up four walks in the inning. Shreveport added four runs in the fifth highlighted by a three-run home run by Jose Gonzalez, his first of the year.
Shreveport now back to the 500 mark with a record of 7-7 will open a three-game series against Edinburg Friday at Fair Grounds Field. Game time will be 7:05pm and it will be Sports T-Shirt Giveaway Night.
